First edition award to the best doctoral thesis

First edition award to the best doctoral thesis

ASEVA announces the call for the first edition of awards to the best doctoral thesis defended during the 2015-2016 or the 2016-2017 academic years. A significant part of the thesis work should be related to the use of techniques or processes using vacuum technology.

The candidates may not be members of ASEVA but in that case, they should be endorsed by a member of ASEVA.

In this first edition, the prize consists of an invited talk in the RIVA-X conference, the gratuity of the corresponding conference fees and a travel expenses help of 100€. In addition, the selected candidate will waived of the fee for the ASEVA membership in the first year.

The candidates should send the PhD manuscript and their CV by email to aseva@icmm.csic.es until 30th June 2017.

Abstract:

A multilayer luminescent design concept is presented to develop energy-sensitive radiation-beam monitors on the basis of colorimetric analysis. Each luminescent layer within the stack consists of rare-earth-doped transparent oxides of optical…

Iberian Vacuum Conference, RIVA-X

Iberian Vacuum Conference, RIVA-X

The Iberian Vacuum Conference, RIVA is a join meeting of the Spanish Vacuum Society (ASEVA) and the Portuguese Vacuum Society (SOPORVAC), and follows the series started in Braga, Portugal, in 1988, changing alternative the location between Portugal and Spain. The fields covered on this conference are related to vacuum and its applications, particularly on the fields of Fundamental and Applied Surface Science, Thin Films, Electronics Materials and Processing, Plasma physics, Vacuum Science and Technology and Nanometer Scale processes.

The main aim of the Conference is to provide a forum where the most relevant and recent results are discussed. We invite scientists and engineers of Spain and Portugal, as well as those from other countries, to take part in this event, especially junior ones. Detailed information here.

8th  European Topical Conference on Hard Coatings

One of the sessions inside Riva-X will be devoted to hard coating. Those submitting an abstract should indicate so on their forms.

RIVA-X will take place in Bilbao in the Bizkaia Aretoa centre from 4-6 October 2017.
