The transition to sustainable energy relies on overcoming challenges in renewable energy efficiency, scalability, and cost. Research on advanced energy materials is crucial for innovations in energy conversion, storage, and efficiency, with oxides playing a pivotal role due to their unique catalytic, electronic, and structural properties. Their abundance and affordability make them ideal for scalable solutions in applications like catalysis, photovoltaics, batteries, and fuel cells. Key research includes tailoring oxides’ surface properties, tuning bandgaps for broad-spectrum light absorption, and improving material stability under irradiation. Advanced techniques explore atomic-scale mechanisms, defect engineering, and efficient charge/ion transport. The proposed workshop will bring together experimentalists and theorists to bridge knowledge gaps in oxide functionality. Topics will include AI-driven design of new materials, catalysis, photoelectrochemistry, solid-state batteries, and defect dynamics, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration to optimize oxides for sustainable energy technologies.

Join us for the 1st Spanish meeting on Microscopy with Low-Energy Electrons (IBERLEEM) comprising both low-energy electron microscopy (LEEM) as well as photoemission microscopy (PEEM) where we explore cutting-edge techniques for imaging and surface analysis. We have decided to launch these meetings both to meet people that have used such instruments in the past as well as researchers interested in the technique. We believe now it the time to start such meetings given that Spain boasts not one but two low-energy electron microscopes: the one at the Alba synchrotron and the one at the Instituto de Química Física Blas Cabrera.

Welcome to the official website of the 12th International Workshop on Functional Nanocomposites (Nanoworkshop 2025)- (previously known as International Workshop on Metal-Polymer Nanocomposites)  to be held from 7 to 10 September 2025 in La Rábida (Huelva, Spain), headquarters of the International University of Andalusia (UNIA). This is the first time that Nanoworkshop 2025 will be held in Spain. For this reason, it will occur near the Doñana National Park, the largest nature reserve in Europe with over 50,000 hectares and protected areas of high biodiversity.

The workshop aims to bring together materials scientists, physicists, chemists, and engineers from academia and industry to share the latest developments in functional nanocomposites. Topics range from advanced preparation techniques and new material properties to industrial applications and include computer simulations and theoretical work. While the initial focus was on polymer-based nanocomposites, over the years it has been extended to functional nanocomposites in general.

  • 4 de junio en la Sociedad Bilbaina (Bilbao) – Aplicaciones y últimas tecnologías en un sector en constante evolución
  • 25 de junio en el Centro Nacional de Aceleradores (CNA) – Sevilla – ESPACIO, VACIO Y ACELERADORES. Nueva aproximación al alto y ultra-alto vacío.

Durante estas jornadas se tratarán temas tan interesantes como la comparativa entre bombas secas y de aceite y criterios de selección y eficiencia energética, las recomendaciones de servicio técnico, la detección de fugas incluyendo demostración práctica, simulación espacial, o recubrimiento por PVD.

X Jornada Técnica de Vacío de Leybold (alto y ultra-alto vacío) – 25 de septiembre en el Instituto IMDEA Nanociencia de Madrid

Leybold Hispánica anuncia su XX Jornada Técnica de Vacío (alto y ultra-alto vacío), el próximo 25 de septiembre en  Madrid en el Instituto IMDEA Nanociencia (Madrid)

Durante esta jornada se tratarán temas tan interesantes como el vacío previo limpio (condición fundamental para obtener ultra-alto vacío), la detección de las fugas más pequeñas, el análisis de gases residuales, técnicas de recubrimiento y simulación espacial.

On-Surface Synthesis International Workshop (OSS-18)

On-surface synthesis unites the easy tunability of molecular materials and the promises of self-assembly as a revolutionary production method, with the sturdiness of covalently bonded structures. This most attractive combination is drawing the interest of a rapidly increasing number of researchers. Important efforts are being devoted to augment the still scarcely equipped on-surface synthesis toolbox, to improve our understanding of the chemical reaction mechanisms, as well as to the synthesis and characterization of new molecular architectures of potential use in diverse applications.

Because this approach bridges across the fields of chemistry, physics and materials science, the aim of this third edition of the “On-Surface Synthesis” international workshop is to bring together researchers working in this field from different perspectives. Doing so we hope to provide a diverse and stimulating environment to present and discuss the present, past and future of this novel and promising synthetic route.
