In early 2000, a vibrant young community of scanning probe microscopists gathered under the auspices of an XVI century monastery in Zamora so to discuss the recent advances in the field. 20+ years after, we celebrate at the very same monastery this event (FyT) that contributed decisively to consolidate the Spanish SPM community, now counting with several world-leading research groups.
