Welcome to the 4th edition of the European Workshop on Epitaxial Graphene and 2D Materials (EWEG2D’2018). EWEG2D’2018 is an international workshop that gathers together the scientific community which have a common interest: the study of the structural, electronic, magnetic and optical properties of Graphene and 2D Materials epitaxially grown on well-defined substrates. Materials of interest are graphene and its derivatives, its elemental analogues (silicene, germanene, antimonene), hexagonal boron nitride, and transition metal dichalcogenides, but also less common systems as phosphorene or group III monochalcogenides (e.g., GaSe). Also advanced materials in the form of nanostructures and lateral in-plane or vertical van-der-Waals stacked heterostructures fall into the field of the workshop.

EWEG2D’2018 addresses the experimental determination of structural, electronic, magnetic and optical properties of supported and freestanding 2DMs, as well as theoretical modeling of such properties and prediction of new 2DMs. The workshop includes studies on the interaction of 2DMs with their environment, for example the adsorption of atoms or molecules, or the interaction with light, electric or magnetic fields.  Special attention is given to the interaction of 2DMs with their substrate and the way it changes their properties.

On-Surface Synthesis International Workshop (OSS-18)

On-surface synthesis unites the easy tunability of molecular materials and the promises of self-assembly as a revolutionary production method, with the sturdiness of covalently bonded structures. This most attractive combination is drawing the interest of a rapidly increasing number of researchers. Important efforts are being devoted to augment the still scarcely equipped on-surface synthesis toolbox, to improve our understanding of the chemical reaction mechanisms, as well as to the synthesis and characterization of new molecular architectures of potential use in diverse applications.

Because this approach bridges across the fields of chemistry, physics and materials science, the aim of this third edition of the “On-Surface Synthesis” international workshop is to bring together researchers working in this field from different perspectives. Doing so we hope to provide a diverse and stimulating environment to present and discuss the present, past and future of this novel and promising synthetic route.

This biennial conference is addressed to the Spanish scientific community working on topics that encompass the use of scanning probe microscopies (SPM). It aims at scientists who share an interest in the applications, the use, the development and the theoretical description of technology based in scanning probes.

FyT2018 will be the XI edition of this conference series that already enjoys two decades of tradition and successful sharing of ideas. This time the conference moves to the city of Jaca enclosed at the hearth of the Huesca Pyrenees, from the 27th till the 29th of June of 2018.

We inform you that the Abstract Submission Application is now OPEN and kindly encourage you to submit an abstract of your work as soon as possible, to be considered as an oral / poster presentation. You can find more information at XI edition of Fuerzas y Túnel.

Concurso de Logo ASEVA

La Asociación Española de Vacío y sus Aplicaciones (ASEVA) convoca un concurso para la realización de un logotipo destinado a ser su imagen representativa.

Dicho logotipo debe ser un diseño artístico, moderno, simple y fácilmente reconocible que identifique a la ASEVA, por lo que se valorará la facilidad de interpretación, así como que el diseño sea innovador y creativo.

Se establece un premio único de 150 euros. La fecha límite para la presentación de propuestas será el día 11 de septiembre de 2017. En la página web de la ASEVA se pueden consultar las bases detalladas del concurso.

Interunivesity Master on Plasma, Laser and Surface Technologies

The Interuniversity Master on Plasma, Laser and Surface Technologies (Máster Interuniversitario Plasma, Láser y Tecnologías de Superficie) is a combined master offered by Universidad de Córdoba and Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, with active participation of researches from Instituto de Ciencia de Materiales de Sevilla (Mixed center CSIC – USE) and from Instituto de Ciencia de Materiales de Madrid (CSIC).

 

This master is mainly addressed to students from Physics, Chemistry or Engineering. The teaching is mainly on-line, through seminars in Virtual Aula, and it is completed with practical sessions in the laboratory. The activities are imparted in the afternoon, to facilitate working technologists to assit.

First edition award to the best doctoral thesis

First edition award to the best doctoral thesis

ASEVA announces the call for the first edition of awards to the best doctoral thesis defended during the 2015-2016 or the 2016-2017 academic years. A significant part of the thesis work should be related to the use of techniques or processes using vacuum technology.

The candidates may not be members of ASEVA but in that case, they should be endorsed by a member of ASEVA.

In this first edition, the prize consists of an invited talk in the RIVA-X conference, the gratuity of the corresponding conference fees and a travel expenses help of 100€. In addition, the selected candidate will waived of the fee for the ASEVA membership in the first year.

The candidates should send the PhD manuscript and their CV by email to aseva@icmm.csic.es until 30th June 2017.
